Summary and Extra content:
Pitch Night:
> Collect names and numbers, but usually they won't be helping out until Feb
> Don't forget 3rd years are busy people too, try to work smart with them, let them help you out while doing a class project for example.
> Its nice to practice telling people about your film, take it as a mock festival situation.
> Your film will change a lot since pitch night
Musicians:
> Try to confirm one before Christmas, music takes time, at least 2 month
> Independent music makers, production houses, music schools (Seattle Film Institute), Craigslist, relatives and friends, or even yourself!
> Price really depends: free, $200~600
Job:
> Don't rush finding a job, it's not just about skills, but also timing and luck.
> The workload is a lot more intense, overwork is common
> You will be a part of a team (responsibility to do your part in the pipeline), work with other people, be professional,
> Your evening is yours to do your own project
Key Points (repeated advices):
> Try to be ahead of schedule, don't procrastinate (see list)
> Reserve time for your family and friends
> Back up your work, at least 3 times
> Don't doubt your story or skills, it's your first film, just aim to finish
> Focus on one thing at a time, tree for the forest, but don't get stuck nitpicking
> This is probably the only chance you get at being a director, before you go work in the industry, so really take advantage of this opportunity
> It will be an unforeseeable and bumpy ride, but remember you are not alone.
> All of your hard work will pay off in the end.
